My name is Melissa Igaga and I am a 23 year old college student of Stellenbosch University in South Africa. I was born in Kenya, raised in Uganda, went back to Kenya for my secondary school education and to South Africa for my tertiary schooling. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. I am also very heavily involved in the arts and education. I have a one year certificate in Graphic design and Visual Communication. I also have a 120 hour TEFL certificate that allows me to teach English as a second language. I have two years of experience in teaching English online that I got between 2018 and 2019 from Synergy Consultants in South Africa which was my first experience in teaching online. Synergy served as a middleman between the clients and teachers. They provided computers, an internet connection, a work space and clients while the teachers taught. Though we had plenty of independent clients, our main client was iTutor group. iTutor subcontracted Synergy to provide them with teachers which is where I came in. I specialized in teaching adults and was responsible for training new recruits to use the iTutor platform. In addition to teaching I also worked as a freelance graphic designer. I used the training that I received during my one year course to produce logos, pamphlets, user interfaces for websites and apps, product labels etcetera. For the last one and a half years, I have continued my freelance graphic design work and plenty of informal tutoring. I am also currently working as a part time voluntary English tutor to underprivileged primary school children at my local school. I use my positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage myself and others to work hard and succeed. Before my job at Synergy, I worked as an intern data analyst at iSON BPO. iSON is a call center management company in Uganda. They manage the call centers of the two largest mobile network companies in Uganda which are Airtel and MTN. During my time here, I made hourly reports on the nature and duration of the incoming calls, agent performance and overall customer satisfaction rates. I believe that my upbringing has played a vital role in the ambitious, driven and focused person that I am. Moving to different countries as often as I did molded me into a versatile and adaptable person. This has made me expect nothing short of excellence in all areas of my life. It is this precise attitude that I tend to approach teaching with. When I am not working, I love to bake, cook, swim and read among other things.

My name is Melissa and I am a 120 hour TEFL certified online English teacher. During my 2 year tenure, I have had the privilege of gaining teaching experience with both adults and children alike. From as far back as I can remember, I have always loved English thus teaching comes pretty naturally to me. My first job as an online English teacher was with Synergy Consultants in South Africa. Synergy served as a middleman between the clients and teachers. They provided computers, an internet connection, a work space and clients while the teachers taught. Our main client was iTutor group. My time at Synergy allowed me to teach students of all language levels, from beginner to advanced. The sheer range of students that I encountered molded me into a versatile teacher. Currently, I am tutoring three middle school children in English following the shutdown of schools due to the pandemic. It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be an enthusiastic, intelligent and understanding teacher to make a positive contribution to my students. I would welcome an interview and hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience.
